C-Murder, brother of music mogul, Master P, and founding member of the world-renowned No Limit record label, is subjecting himself to a hunger strike in a Louisiana State Prison.

In 2009, C-Murder (real name Corey Miller) was sentenced to life without parole for his involvement in the beating and murder of a young fan inside of a nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana.

Since he was first charged with the murder in 2002 though, he has actively pleaded his innocence, which resulted in a litany of appeals, centered on the case.

Subsequently, the family of the victim, Steve Thomas, barred Miller with a gag order that prevented him from publicly speaking about the circumstances surrounding the killing of their 16-year-old son.

This resulted in C-Murder’s family picking up his fight for freedom. Their latest cry of innocence came this week.

Master P popped onto Instagram, confirming that his brother is on a hunger strike at Angola prison.

In his post, he explains that due to the state’s unwillingness to submit camera footage and an alleged confession as evidence, C-Murder is refusing food as a protest.
“The club (has) a camera (that) shows who’s the shooter, and also somebody confessed to the crime,” Master P explains, after thanking the fans who have supported his brother’s non-violent demonstration.

He captioned this, “Free Corey Miller! Thanks to all the fans that’s been praying for my brother. He’s on a hunger strike in Angola. He’s been locked up for a crime he didn’t commit. Somebody has confessed and they even have footage, that they don’t want to put in the case. My brother is no angel and has done a lot of dumb stuff like most. But I love him and i will fight for him to bring awareness to this injustice. You can’t choose your family but you can choose your friends. When it get real we all we got. #freecoreymiller #FreeAllTheInnocent”.

C-Murder is joined in this strike that began two weeks ago by other inmates, as, outside of ignorance of his alleged innocence, Miller and fellow prisoners feel as though Angola breeds inhumane conditions.

The possible injustices that Murder could be facing pull the strings of empathy many can relate to and it resonates in the caption of his brother’s post.

“My brother is no angel and has done a lot of dumb stuff like most,” Master P penned. “But I love him and I will fight for him to bring awareness to this injustice. You can’t choose your family but you can choose your friends.”

C-Murder was previously investigated over a song and music video that may have been created behind bars.

A track called "Dear Supreme Court/Under Pressure", asked the Supreme Court to free him; the lyrics of the song state, "I had no gun. Didn't know the victim. My position still stands. It's blatant lynching of the system."

State Department of Corrections spokeswoman Pam Laborde had shared that officials began looking into how he was able to record material from behind bars last January.

She says he had insisted that any material released by his record company was recorded before he was incarcerated, adding that prisoners aren't allowed to record music or maintain social media accounts.

"The department regrets that the victim's family (and much of the public) cannot be spared from this. However, it appears that associates of the offender are responsible for content on these pages and it is very difficult for investigators to remove the pages."
