R. Kelly better make room in his schedule.
Amid the controversy over his alleged relationships with much younger women, the self-proclaimed Pied Piper of R&B has more trouble on the horizon.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Kenny Bryant, the Mississippi sheriff suing Robert Kelly for allegedly having an affair with his wife and destroying his marriage, plans to question the R&B star under oath.
Um, that would be a mess, right?
Apparently, Mississippi, is one of the only states that allow a person to sue someone for ruining a marriage.
Oh and Bryant says that R. Kelly gave his wife chlamydia too, which she supposedly contracted during a six-month period between October 2012 and February 2013, when the married duo were not intimate with each other.
While R. Kelly has filed court documents that reveal that he does indeed know Bryant’s wife, he denies that he slept with her during Bryant’s marriage. He wants the case thrown out.
Bryant admits he knew his wife had a prior relationship with the "Pied Piper of R&B," but was assured that it was over before he wed Asia Childress on July 15, 2012.
Hm. He suspects his wife rekindled her old flame after attending a concert, just months after their wedding…which ultimately lead to her having an intimate extramarital affair for five years.
And he claims that she suggested that they move to Georgia (which they did), despite having no job prospects, so that she could be closer to her lover?
The duo tried to work on their crumbling relationship, but Bryant revealed he could “not prevail against R. Kelly’s continued intimate overtures to Childress.” She eventually asked for a divorce, which may have caused Bryant to suffer from emotional, psychological and financial losses.
Beyond that, Bryant is suing the crooner for depriving him of his spouse, love, support and conjugal affection; he plans to give Kelly a deposition at his lawyer’s office and will be “continuing day to day until completed.”
R. Kelly responded to the lawsuit back in December, stating in the legal documents that he hired an investigator to look into Bryant, which supposedly unearthed that fact that Bryant had multiple flings during his marriage to Childress and might have even fathered a love child with one of his side chicks.
He then accused Bryant of using his resources as a law enforcement officer to further his personal agenda, before requesting Bryant’s phone records to prove his case, since the deputy had been “harassing” him.
What do you think? Is R. Kelly partly responsible for the union failing?
