R. Kelly has said in the forefront of the conversation ever since the airing of Lifetime’s documentary series, Surviving R. Kelly.
The 6-part exposé showcased the King of R&B's alleged criminal behavior over the span of his 20-year career.
Everything from reportedly marrying the late Aaliyah at the age of 15-years-old to present-day, where he's reportedly keeping women (against their will) in various homes and studios in both Chicago and Atlanta.
Social Media blew up after every episode as users (including celebrities) publicly picked sides, with many people calling for R. Kelly to be blacklisted.
According to TMZ, the docu-series has led to an official criminal investigation in the state of Georgia. A District Attorney in Chicago is looking for witnesses to come forward as well.
Just when we thought we couldn’t dislike R. Kelly any more then we already do — he proved us wrong once again.
After the airing of Surviving R. Kelly
, his lawyer Steven Greenberg went on ABC’s Good Morning America
in an attempt to do some PR damage control for the singer.
According to his lawyer, “[R. Kelly is] disappointed that these women are doing this, that these families are doing it, that they’re ruining a talented musician’s career.
“We know what happened, and we know those things didn’t happen. The man was not operating a harem or a cult or holding people hostage or anything like that,” Greenberg said.
Then his lawyer confirmed one of the biggest rumors about singer – At the age of 27-year-old, R. Kelly did indeed marry his then 15-year-old protégé Aaliyah.
“He was married to her when she was 15. Elvis was married to Priscilla,” Greenberg said as a way to justify his client’s actions.
When the interviewer says: “But so then 15 is not of the age of legal consent.”
Greenberg responded with: “Right. Except that my understanding is that she did not claim to be 15 and, in order to get married, she had to lie about her age. [He had] no idea.”
Seriously? He really had the nerve to go on national television and lie on a woman, who’s not alive to defend herself.

Well, the detectives on the internet did their research and we’d like to direct your attention to this behind-the-scenes video in which R. Kelly bluntly says:
“Right now I’m producing a very talented young lady — she’s 14. Aaliyah.”
